Implement an 80/20 assessment into your work day. We are all under considerable pressure to meet deadlines, manage tasks, respond to emails, return phone calls and ultimately balance work and life outside of the office. An 80/20 assessment will force you to expose what tasks, actions or inaction take up the majority of your time and impede results generation. The only requirement is that you be honest. Here goes…
1. Which 20% of sources are causing 80% of the distractions?
2. Which 20% of sources are resulting in 80% of desired outcomes and happiness?
ANALYZE your answers. Take steps to eliminate wasteful activity, idea crushers and negativity. Try writing a report without interruption for one hour (you can accomplish so much, I promise!). Don’t check email, talk or text for two hours (its oddly freeing).
